Tanzania Team

For many years the Tanzania Team has been collaborating with partners in Tanzania. The team is grounded in research activities carried out at district hospitals and at sites for longitudinal population based studies in Tanzania. In collaboration with other research teams at the Centre for translational Medicine and Parasitology (CMP) as well as other Departments at University of Copenhagen, University Hospitals in Denmark, and other European research institutes, several projects have been and are being carried out. The work has been expanded to also include research in Somaliland.

The focus is on clinical and epidemiological aspects of malaria, other vector-borne diseases (VBD), and related conditions such as anaemia, poor pregnancy, and birth outcome. Entomological aspects of VBDs are also investigated, in relation to climate changes.
In close collaboration with the DRUGS and the DISCOVERY teams, biological samples collected in Tanzania are being investigated in laboratories locally and at CMP to answer the team’s and collaborators research questions. Research capacity building and education are important components in our research projects.
